Smiling and Cooing

Cameron has started smiling a little bit. David and I have been arguing whether they're "real" smiles or just gassy smiles. I say that most of them are gassy smiles because shortly after the smile, comes the scrunched up toot face. David says he thinks they are "real," and even if they're not, he doesn't care because they look real. This is yet another example of how David and I think differently. He is almost always a "glass half full" kind of guy, and I tend to see the negatives. Oh, well... I guess we complement each other well. Cameron has also started cooing within the last week. I love that. He does it a lot on the changing table. It is so neat to hear his little voice. Babies make noise, of course, in the early days, but most of the time, it is a cry, a whimper, or a cough, and not a real voice. I think that sentence had too many commas. Anyway, it is so cute, and melts my heart. I am so looking forward to seeing what Cameron is like as he gets older. I watched a little bit of a home movie of Christmas morning when Braden was two, and it was just adorable. His little voice was so sweet. He is so different now, and seems so big! I didn't pick him up at all while I was pregnant, so I went for 3/4 of a year without doing it. I picked him up the other day, and he is so huge! It made me a little sad. I'm sure in a couple of years we will look back at pictures and videos from this year and think he looked so little. I try to cherish each day because I know they will be gone in a flash. It's hard sometimes, though, because of my whole "glass half empty" personality. :) I tend to focus on the struggles of each day rather than the blessings. I'm working on that.
Note: The picture was taken April 14, 2009, (when Cameron was 1 day shy of 8 weeks old) and was the first picture I was able to capture of Cameron smiling. I still say it was gas, but it's cute!
