I don't usually listen to music in my car unless I'm driving somewhere by myself. My children complain and argue, so car time is quiet time. Funny that they don't do that with David, though, and he can blast whatever he wants, and they think it's cool. Not sure what that's about. Anyway...
We've finally got some common ground now that Frozen has entered our lives. We saw it in the theater, and then I surprised them with the DVD when it came out last week. After watching the movie a few times in a row, I decided we needed the soundtrack. Apparently, a lot of other families have been enjoying it as well. If you don't live under a rock, you're probably already familiar with the "good looking parents" and their lip syncing, but in case you do live under a rock (which is OK by me), you should check it out. It's fun. If not, scroll down. There's more (and it's not more Frozen).
Another fun bit of music has entered my life, and I am so enamored with it! I caught myself watching those new-ish retro Target commercials (is that an oxymoron?) Anyway, the music sucks me in every time. I can be minding my own business, not paying attention to the TV at all, and as soon as that commercial comes on, I look up, and think,
"What is that song? I like that song. It sounds like something from the 80's. What is that song!?"
I finally looked it up, and it's not from the 80's at all. It's a song called "Forever" by a group called "Haim" (pronounced hi-um), and it was released in 2013. I did a little searching on YouTube, and found lots of their songs. I loved them ALL. They sound familiar and fresh at the same time. I hear echoes of Michael Jackson, Annie Lennox, Cyndi Lauper, Peter Gabirel, Stevie Nicks, The Eagles... After listening to several Haim songs on YouTube (over and over again), I decided I needed to own their CD too. So, now I just need to convince my boys that it's cool so they'll want to listen in the car with me. I think they won't need much convincing.
Here's the song from the Target commercial:
And here's another one that always gets my head bobbing and my foot tapping:
Hope you enjoyed our little musical interlude. ;) Have a nice day.
