NAUMS

I spent the past four days in Fort Worth, Texas, at the national conference for NAUMS (National Association of University-Model Schools). It was amazing! I traveled with 13 other people, including teachers, administrators, staff, board members, and parents, from our school. We went to lots of breakout sessions and had some amazing speakers during lunch and dinner. I learned some new things and got lots of encouragement.

My favorite speakers were our lunch and dinner presentors: Andrew Pudewa (POO-deh-wah) from the Institute for Excellence in Writing and Kathy Koch (cook) from Celebrate Kids. Mr. Pudewa sressed the importance of filling my kids (at home and in class) with good literature, and shared some refreshing information about teaching writing and just teaching kids in general. Dr. Koch reminded me to see my kids for who God made them to be and to celebrate all of their strengths.

My favorite breakout sessions were with Andrea Chevalier (sheh-VAH-lee-ay). She's a mom, university-model school teacher, and certified personality trainer.

We were also entertained and challenged by Teresa Moon's traveling teen speakers from the Institute for Cultural Communicators.

It was an awesome time of learning, renewal, fellowship, and worship. I am so excited to be back in teaching, and I'm so thankful Braden gets to go to our wonderful, Christian, University-Model school!
