Braden's Jobs

Yesterday, I reorganized all the DVDs in our cabinet, and Braden discovered that we have a Walt Disney World vacation preview DVD. He wanted to watch it this afternoon, and we ended up watching it two times in a row. He was very excited to see all the characters, and it was especially cool because that's where cousin Corbin went on his vacation last fall. After watching it once, he started talking about how much he wanted to go there. Here's part of our conversation (credit goes to my cousin, Erin, - and her blog The Oliver Boys - for the script-like layout as opposed to my usual attempt at using correct grammar and punctuation marks). Anyway... here's our conversation:

B: Mom, I REALLY want to go to Disney World!
Me: Me too.
B: Well, come on! I'll put my shoes on and we can go!
Me: No, honey. We can't really go. Disney World is in Florida, and that's really far away. It's a whole different state. It's not even in Arkansas. It would cost us at least $1,000 to go there.
B: Do we have $1,000?
Me: No.
B: Aww! I don't even have any money! I really want to go to Disney World!
Me: Well, maybe when you grow up, you can save your money and you can go - when you grow up and get a job.
B: But, I already have jobs.
Me: You do? What are your jobs?
B: Line Leader... Door Holder...

After that, we just laughed and laughed (although Braden didn't really know why we were laughing). :)

P.S. Cameron is 3 weeks old today!

  1. We have that conversation around here quite a bit as well. Usually we can shut it down by telling them how long they would have to spend driving in the car.

  2. Yeah, Braden didn't seem to mind the idea of a long car ride. Plus, he knows that his cousin flew on an airplane to get there, so his idea was that we could take him to Corbin's house, and he would just go with Corbin. :)
