We're expecting!

I suspected I was pregnant very early on due to feeling "car sick" all day long. It only lasted for one day, but it was enough to get my hopes up pretty high. We had been trying to conceive our second child for just over a year, so we were becoming used to getting our hopes up, and then getting disappointed. It wasn't new territory for us since we went through a very similar experience while trying to conceive Braden.

On June 19, 2008, I took a home pregnancy test (well, actually two of them), and they were both positive! David was on a business trip in Minneapolis, so I called him first thing in the morning to tell him the news. We were very excited! I called my doctor's office right away and went in to have blood work done that same day. My hCG was 47 and my progesterone was 114. The hCG was normal, but the progesterone was very high, which meant that there could be a possibility of multiples. I wasn't too worried about it, though, since my progesterone had been 112 when I was pregnant with Braden. Multiple ovulation is common when taking Clomid, though, so we knew it was a possibility. I went back for a repeat hCG test the following week, and my level had gone up to 250, which the doctor said was also normal. For those of you who aren't OB/Gyns or infertility patients, this information won't mean a whole lot, but it was very encouraging to us! It meant that as far as the hormones go, everything was working like it was supposed to. We then scheduled our first ultrasound and began the wait!
