I usually start my Instagrams with the beginning of the week and work my way to the present, but some pretty big things happened yesterday (Friday) that I just have to share first!

We woke up this morning (on May 3rd) to SNOW! It was the first ever recorded snowfall in Arkansas in May. | We found out Friday evening that David WON the fitness challenge he started in January! He had pretty much convinced himself that his chances of winning were slim, and I was kind-of glad about that because I didn't want him to be devastated if he lost. But, it doesn't matter now because he was the WINNER! I'm SO proud of him. He lost over 29 pounds in fat and gained 9 pounds of muscle. The challenge officially ended a few weeks ago, but he is still going strong, and still losing weight. He's had to buy new pants every couple of weeks (not kidding). It's awesome. As part of his new Challenge Winner / VIP status, he gets a special parking spot right by the front door of the gym. And... I GET TO PARK THERE TOO!!! The perk he's most excited about, though, is free towels for a year. I'm pretty excited about that too since it means no more stinky towels hanging all over our bathroom, and less laundry to do. Anyway, he is so happy he met his goals and won, and we're happy for him! I didn't get a picture, but as we were waiting to hear the winner's name called at the ceremony, Braden was crossing his fingers on both hands, and then when they said David's name, he threw his fists up in the air and said, "YES!!" :) I love that the boys are proud of their daddy.

I made a "wreath" for our front door. The hanging wooden box is from TJ Maxx, and it said "flip flops" on the front when I bought it. I painted over that with black craft paint, and then painted the numbers on in white. The silk tulips are from Hobby Lobby. I love how it turned out! So springy. It makes me smile. | We hosted (in)RL at our church last Saturday, and we were all supposed to bring our favorite mug. I chose this one that Kendra gave me when we were teaching together. Love her so much. I don't miss teaching (it was a LOT of work), but I do miss seeing my awesome teacher friends. Being a stay-at-home-mom often makes me feel isolated and alone. I need community.

Braden couldn't decide which crazy straw to use for his milk, so he used both. He said drinking out of them was difficult. | It wasn't snowy earlier this week! We had temps in the 80's for three days straight. | Braden had his first late baseball game. It didn't start until 7:45. That's bedtime at our house. The weather was gorgeous, though.

David's favorite dessert lately (he adds peanut butter on top). | My new favorite healthy snack. | My actual favorite snack. | My yummy breakfast of Corn Chex and bananas.

My love of vintage maps and globes comes in handy when Braden has an assignment to do that involves putting together a map of Israel. :) | Verses to calm the spirit. I wrote these down at a moms' event at school. It was great. I did not want to leave. I really need to be around other moms. I wish we could get together like that every month. Sigh... | The pen I used to write the verses was awesome. I took a picture of it so I could remember it and maybe buy one.

With this winter weather outside, it's hard to believe we only have one more week of school before summer break. :) | I wanted to capture what our fridge looks like right now. I like it. | I'm secretly happy that no one ate any of the pumpkin pie I took to the moms' event because that meant we got to eat it for breakfast.

White t-shirts + iron-on inkjet transfer paper = happy boys on Star Wars Day. May the fourth be with you. :)

I hear you about the need for community! I think that's why we blog... :)
ReplyDeleteI agree, Rachel! It's can be a poor substitute for real life hugs and conversation, though. :)
