Happy Tuesday! I'm home with two semi-sick kiddos today. Runny noses, low-grade fevers... They've been watching old episodes of Super Friends all morning while I finished up my digital Project Life pages. :) I'm excited because I got to use one of the new kits, Kraft Edition, and I included another insert! Here's a link to the first time I created a digital insert, with an explanation of how I'm planning to make it work in a photobook. I did it the same way this week, but made the insert slightly wider (basically 9x12) to accommodate even more photos.
Great looking pages! I'm also a mom of two doing PL digitally... and loving the Kraft kit, which was what prompted me to click over from mom creative :) What's your plan with your inserts when you go to print?
Hi Rachel, Thanks! I'm planning to leave extra blank space on the edges of the insert pages, and then trim it off after I get the printed book. I'll probably fold a piece of washi tape over the cut edge to serve as a tab. That's the plan, anyway. I haven't tested it in real life yet. Thanks for visiting! :)
Thanks, Suzanne! I've tried several printers. I usually use Shutterfly for photobooks. I've done books in 8x8 and 12x12 from there, and have been very pleased. I've also done a 7x7 book from Blurb (nice, but not quite as good as Shutterfly). I very much want to try out a 10x10 book from Mpix. I have been impressed with their print quality on 5x7 photos and 4x8 photo Christmas cards. Everyone in the digi scrap community loves Persnickety, but I have not been impressed. I thought about NOT doing a photobook last year and instead putting individual printed digital layouts in page protectors in a binder. I ordered several from Persnickety, and just was not satisfied. They reprinted my order (their customer service is excellent), and it was better, but the colors just weren't vibrant like they are in my Shutterfly books. So, I ditched that idea. Steph at The Daily Digi did a terrific post comparing several photobook printers. I found it helpful. :) Here's the URL: http://thedailydigi.com/12-different-photobook-printer-reviews/
Kraft looks great here - colorful but not overly bright. You have such colorful photos, too. What sweetness in the nap photo - what a great pic! It's fun to see the inserts you've been making, and cool that you're playing with sizes. I haven't done one yet but I'm totally inspired & looking forward to it. Nice work on including yourself in the spread several times!
Cameron's comment about you being the best mother he's ever had is so darn cute! Now I'm wondering what it might mean. :) Great job of recording all the precious (and ordinary) memories on these pages, Jenny!
Thanks, Donna! I have a lot of cute quotes from Cameron (I should probably try to write some down that Braden says too, but you know, four-year-olds are just cuter). :) Today, they were talking about one pair of Braden's slippers being too small and the other pair being too big, and Cameron said, "My slippers weigh three years tall." Ha! :)
Thanks again, Suzanne! :) I need to update my list of supplies with the template set that has the square photo spots. One of the things I love most about the templates from Wishing Well Creations is that they're all evenly spaced and interchangeable!

DeleteWow I like that idea. What printing service do you use?

ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm liking Kraft, too. I am trying to include myself more. It can be hard! :) I hope you do an insert! I would love to see it.
