So... here's what I did:

and with the insert page turned...

The insert page will have blank space, and when I get the printed photobook, I'll cut off the excess -- with scissors! Revolutionary, right!? Ha. :) Then, I'll fold a piece of actual tape over the edge where the digi black/white tape is now to serve as a tab.
Here are all the pages separately:

What do you think? Am I crazy or what? :)

Products Used for Week 11:

Great spread. Your pictures are always so great!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Amy! You're so sweet! :)
DeleteGreat idea Jenny! I LOVE doing PL digitally, but the inserts are the one part that always kinda make me wish I was doing it physically. This is a great solution!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nicole! Me too! It will be a (long) while, but I'll be sure to post some pictures of the real deal once I get my photobook. I hope it actually works! :)
DeleteThese layouts are SO good! I love how you included the "Student Self-Reflection". Too cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stephanie! :)
DeleteYou can pack a lot of memories in your pages. That is a super cute racetrack picture! Thanks for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteThanks, and you're welcome! :)
DeleteSuper cute! I love that all your pictures have rounded edges. Makes for really nice symmetry and aesthetic. Love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dianne! The templates I use have the option of rounded or square, and I tried mixing it up a few weeks ago. :) I am partial to the rounded look, though.
DeleteBeautiful layouts. And yep...I think that's completely revolutionary! I keep looking at the digi inserts people say they are adding and I could not for the life of me figure out how that worked. I feel kinda silly now, but I'm glad someone clued me in!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cerise! You know of other people have already done the digital inserts? I would love to see those! I have seen digital pages designed as inserts to go in a page protector, but I've never seen one in a photobook. I hope it looks good, and not like there's something wrong with the book. Ha! :) That's my fear. I think as long as the book is big enough, it should be OK. I imagine with a small book (like an 8x8), the insert page might just stick straight up and not lay down. We'll see! :)
DeleteWhoa… I think you just blew my mind. This definitely falls into the "it's just crazy enough to work" ideas category. The uptight, business-as-usual part of my brain is going, "*Cut* a photobook? To make a little half-size page? You can't cut books!" and another part of my brain is jumping up and down and saying halleluja. I think this might make my life considerably easier because I spend a lot of my PL time trying to figure out how to cram everything in, words and pictures, but without enough for two full spreads per week. I guess the one thing I feel anxious about is paying for a full size page from the photobook printer when I'm cutting half of it away, but that's pretty silly if what I end up with is the book that I want!
ReplyDeleteReally, really cute how you did the journaling on the race car photo. I love it!
Haha! Thanks. You're funny. I totally went through the same thought process. :) I am excited to see how it works in real life. I won't do an insert every week, but I am hoping to pop a few in there every now and then. I may even try some different sizes -- like an 8x11 or a 5x7. I'm still thinking about how I would go about cutting the page to make it shorter, rather than just narrower, if that makes sense. I wish I was ready to print NOW. Ha! :)
DeleteOMGOSH, I freaking love this idea. LOVE. Like, my brain is working on all sorts of fun ideas in now -- including cutting off the top half of a page and folding the bottom half over (and attaching with washi or something) to create a little pocket to stick stuff into... IN A BOOK. OMGOSH.
ReplyDeleteI second the comment above mine -- "you just blew my mind". I LOVE IT! Thanks, Jenny! :)
oooh! That's a great idea!
DeleteLove to see digital project-lifers :), thank for commenting on my blog. I have used this http://www.designerdigitals.com/digital-scrapbooking/supplies/product_info.php/products_id/13414 for my stitching...
