Project Life: Week 4

Last week's layout was my favorite one so far - I just love those doodled journalers and the bright colors. I used them again this week, but I had a hard time choosing the patterned papers for the date/week sections. Oh, well... it came together eventually (click on the images to view the product credits in Flickr).

I'm still really liking this project. I read on Cathy Zielske's blog the other day that she's liking PL a lot too, and that she's focused on it being her primary means of memory recording. I'm with her on that. I really haven't had a desire (yet) to "scrap" a stand-alone page. I'm even thinking about how I can do birthday layouts using the Project Life page designs. I think it will work perfectly. It really simplifies the whole process, yet I still feel like I get to be creative. Win-win! (win for my creative side and win for my side that just wants it done).

You may have noticed (or not) that the margins are bigger. I decided to leave more space for trimming when they will eventually be printed in a photo book. Here's how I did it: When I had the whole layout exactly like I wanted, I flattened all the layers minus the background, and then resized the canvas to 13"x13". Then I resized the whole image back to 12"x12", and finally inserted my background paper before flattening the whole thing and saving it as a jpg. You know, just in case you were wondering. :)
