So... What do 6-1/2-year-olds like to do? They like to be in pictures... ALL the pictures... even when Mom's trying to snap a cute one of little brother.

It seems kind-of silly to celebrate a half birthday, but I remember looking forward to every August when I was a kid so that I could say I was ___ and-a-half. We've never really celebrated it before, but he was so pumped about it this year, that we humored him with three candles in a twinkie (because 3 is half of 6). The funniest part was singing "HALFY birthday to you!"

He's giving me "the smolder" from Tangled. ↓

Chuck E. Cheese's also apparently supports the celebration of half birthdays... he got a Happy Half Birthday e-card from them (with a coupon, of course).
After the twinkie, we built marshmallow houses. I helped in Braden's Sunday School class that morning, and we did this activity to go along with the lesson about the family who built a room onto their house for Elisha. David was excited to give it a try after we got home from church. We had completely different building plans.

In my usual fashion, I completed a scrapbook layout of Braden's 6th birthday... six months late. :) Click on it for a larger view.

P.S. Thank you, Lesley, for helping me figure out how to post bigger pictures! :)
Hi Jenny, ooh I loved this post! Happy 6 1/2 birthday to Braden! His 'smolder' look is way cool and cute. And Jared and I enjoyed very much your marshmallow houses. And glad I can be part 'contributor' to the super birthday layout!
ReplyDeleteI like this post, too. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Yin! That template is one of my favorites.
