Funny Braden

Here are some funny things Braden has done/said lately.

He dug out some of the leftover Ben-10 invitations from his 5th birthday, wrote some things inside, and addressed one of them to himself - Braden the Big B. He then took it out to the mailbox, put it in, raised the flag, and stood behind the mailbox waiting for the mail to come (pretending). Then he checked the mail, brought it in to me, and said, in an excited voice, "I wonder who this is from?" He said it was from Cameron.

We were driving home from having our church directory pictures taken (it's a 30-min. drive to church), and David and I started up a serious discussion about some possible scenarios for how his job could change. He had heard rumor of some reorganization, and was concerned about who was making decisions about his job. He was listing off the people who knew what he was good at, and Braden interrupted, saying, "Daddy?" David told him to wait until Mommy and Daddy were finished talking. He waited a few seconds for a pause in the conversation, and said again, "Daddy?" We were willing to listen this time, and I figured he was going to say something completely unrelated to our subject. Instead, he said, "Daddy, do they even know that you're good at helping me take a bath?" It definitely broke the tension, and David had a good chuckle. I told him he needed to remember that.

Last week, after I picked Braden up from school, I took the boys with me to Hobby Lobby to shop for a new scrapbook album for my Week in the Life project. Braden had taken his wallet with him (which he doesn't normally do), and really wanted to buy "something." We saw some little unfinished wood boxes that looked like treasure chests, and Braden wanted to get one. I told him he would have to sand it and stain or paint it, and he decided he didn't want to have to do that, so we went over to the basket section and found a little box covered in leather (I think) that had some gold accents on it. He said it looked like a pirate's treasure chest because it had shiny gold on it. They were 50% off, so I said he could use his $5.00 to buy it, and I would pay the extra (about $2.00 more). After we got home, he filled it with all of his pirate gear (plastic eye patch, skull bandana, and a telescope with a tater tot on the side of it from Sonic) as well as lots of other little "treasures" he found in his room. He was really excited to show it to David when he got home from work. When David saw it, he said, "Argh! Me booty!" and Braden immediately replied, "Argh! Me butt cheeks!" David and I managed to keep fairly straight faces while I reminded Braden that we don't say, "butt," and then escaped to our closet where we had a good laugh.
