Sunset Rainbow

This evening before David got home from choir, I had a rare moment to myself after both boys were in bed. I walked into the living room, and the whole room was filled with an orange light. I went out on the front porch to look, and the light was amazing. It was right at sunset and it was raining a little bit. I just stood there looking around, thinking about how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful place (that is saying something since most days I think about how ratty the neighbors' lawns look or how I want a bigger house with a bigger yard with more trees, etc.). So, I just stood there and prayed a prayer of thanks to God for our beautiful world and our nice place to live. Then I looked over to the east and saw a big, arching rainbow! God is so good. He keeps His promises and creates such beautiful things to remind us. I quickly went back inside to get Braden up so he could see the rainbow out his bedroom window. He was so excited! We talked about Noah's Ark and the flood, and how that God put the rainbow in the sky as a sign of his promise to never flood the earth again. Braden was just talking before bed about being afraid of storms, so it was nice to be able to show him something positive. We looked out his window at the rainbow for several minutes until it started to fade (which disappointed Braden). He said he hopes there is another rainbow tomorrow. Then he said we can go to the library if it's raining because we'll have our umbrellas (I had told him we could go tomorrow if it wasn't raining). I think he was trying to decide if he would rather have it rain so he could see a rainbow or have it not rain so he could go to the library, and then figured that he could do both if I would agree to using umbrellas. :) After he settled back into bed, I went out on the front porch again to see the remnants of the sunset. I took a couple of pictures, but they don't give the light justice. Of course, it was much more brilliant earlier when I first saw the rainbow (of which I didn't get a picture). Anyway, here are the ones I managed to get:
