December 13, 2011
Today is the last day of school before the last day of school before Christmas break. My students have been a little wild since Thanksgiving. Christmas break can’t come soon enough! There were lots of volunteers for lunch duty today, and they literally made me leave. That was nice. I got to each lunch with all of the K-1 teachers, which hadn’t happened since school started. We rearranged our afternoon so that Braden and I could go to Cameron’s Christmas program at 2:00. It was cute. I had to move around to take pictures because Cam's class ended up on the opposite side of the stage from where we were sitting. He didn’t sing at all, but he did stay on stage and wave at me a little bit. After it was over, I asked him if he sang, and he said, “Nah. I just be quiet.” :) One of the moms from school was there and offered to take a family picture for us. That was so nice of her! I haven’t had a picture of all four of us in months. After the program, David went back to work, and I took both boys back to school with me. Braden went to his PE class, and Cameron stayed with me for the iPad elective. He walked around to all the big 5th grade boys and said, “What you doing?” They are such good kids. They all talked to him and showed him what they were doing on their iPads. The rest of the time, he just played with his Lightning McQueen and Finn McMissile. He stayed in Mrs. W.’s room during dismissal with her two kids and Braden. On my way to the front of the building, another teacher alerted me to the fresh, homemade bread in the copy room. That was the highlight of my day! Mrs. E. makes the BEST bread. It is pure buttery goodness. I hadn’t had any since her son was in my 2nd grade class (3 years ago), and it was SO good. When we got home after school, Cameron wanted to watch Cars 2 (of course), but Braden wanted to watch Wild Kratts (of course). So, we did both. David worked late and then had to stop by the grocery store on his way home. We ate tortellini and bread sticks at 7:30. The boys went straight to bed after dinner. David worked on memorizing his lines for a while, and then we watched our DVR’d episode of Glee. It’s a really controversial show (to me, anyway), but we enjoy the music, so we keep watching it. This episode actually had some redeeming qualities, though, so I didn’t have a sick feeling in my stomach when it was over. After that, I stayed up late reading blogs.
