Time flies when you're having fun! Or so I've heard... The last month or so has been full of sweet kisses from my littlest boy, but also some crying, hitting, and the occasional biting. I try to keep my cool, and I know it's partly those dreaded "terrible twos" starting up, but it may also be due to the fact that a month ago, he had two top teeth and two bottom teeth. He now has a mouthful (including molars on top and bottom). So, who can really blame him? I think I'd be fussy, too. He also made some major advancements in the gross motor skills area. He walks everywhere now, and can even navigate crossing over the threshold of the front door to go outside (which he loves).
He's saying a few new words:
cookie (always with the sign)
Mommy (He's been saying "Mama" for a loooong time, but now he can say "mom-mee.")
key
school ("coo")
His new signs are cookie, applesauce, and yogurt. He shakes his head no and says, "mm-mh," (uh-huh/no). He does this especially when we tell him it's time to go to bed, as he simultaneously tries to make a run for it (well, a really fast waddle, anyway). On the other hand, if he sees a pillow lying around, he likes to pretend to go "nigh-nigh." If he can't figure out how to lie down on the pillow, he signs "help" and wants me to lay him down. He's also learning to call the Hogs. Here he is pretending to go nigh-nigh on Bubby's pillow and calling the Hogs.
He's also learning a few letters thanks to the foam bath alphabet. He knows "E" for sure, and sometimes knows, "O." He also knows that "D" is for Daddy, and "M" is for Mommy. He still can't say, "Braden" or "Bubby." I don't really know what to think of that. He says /d/ for /b/. He even says "dye-dye" instead of "bye-bye." I keep modeling it and sometimes even pinch his lips together when I say "buh-buh," but he just smiles and says, "da-da-da-da-da!" Speaking of "da-da," he LOOOOOVES his Daddy. David stayed home with him one day a couple of weeks ago when he was sick and had a high fever. Cameron is not usually a cuddle-bug, but he was while he was sick. Anyway, ever since then, he has been attached to Daddy. David mowed the grass Friday night, and Cameron literally stood at the window and watched him the whole time. When David would go out of sight, Cam would get upset and whine, "Daddy? Daddee? Daddee!!" He gets SO excited when David comes home from work. It's super cute and I know gives David lots of warm fuzzies. I think he appreciates it with Cam even more than he did with B because now he knows it won't last forever. Braden still loves to spend time with Daddy, but his greetings are more like, "Oh - Hey, Dad!"
Cameron started pre-school the same day that Braden started Kindergarten, and he's doing really well with it. David takes him in the mornings, and I pick him up right after school. Sometimes Braden's Kindergarten teacher signs Cameron out (her oldest daughter goes to the same pre-school) at the end of the day because we have to race to get to the pre-school on time after dismissal at school is over. So far, we haven't had to pay any extra dollars for being late!
