The Contraption

So, Cameron is 15 months old and not walking yet. His doctor said if he wasn't walking by 16 months, to bring him back and she would re-evaluate him and maybe recommend physical therapy. OK, well... tomorrow is the day. He'll be 16 months old Friday. Care to hold your breath and wait with me?

I'm not taking him back to the doctor just yet. He's made a lot of progress in the last few weeks. He cruises between pieces of furniture. He cruises around the end of the couch and along the side of the cabinets to get to the front of the dishwasher where his magnetic alphabet musical toy is. He's progressed from insisting on holding both of my hands to being OK with holding just one and walking across the living room. I think he can do it all by himself. I think he just lacks confidence.

Enter "The Contraption":

Our neighbor let us borrow this walker and says it helped her kids (her oldest is the same age as Braden) and her sister's kids learn to walk. It looks like something from the 40's maybe. Is it JPMA approved? Nope. Would a pediatric physical therapist look at it and give me a list of reasons why I shouldn't use it? Maybe. Am I going to give it a try. Yes.

Baby in "The Contraption":

Notice how he's standing up and not holding on to a person or a fixed piece of furniture? I think we're making progress. Oh, and I usually take off his socks so he doesn't slip and slide, but he had just had a bath, and I didn't want him to get all dirty again right before bed (yes, our floors are dirty).
