This week, I was inspired to try something new. I've noticed a lot of scrappy details in some other digital layouts (and some paper ones too!), and I decided to give it a try. My main inspiration was Nita's Project Life pages on her blog called ongevijftig (that's
Here is one of my favorite pages by Nita. I love the stitches between the cards and the stack of photos that looks like it's just sitting on top. Visit her blog to see more.

Nita was kind enough to share with me that the digital stitches she uses are by Katie Pertiet, so I hopped over to Designer Digitals to grab a set (see product links below), and... here are my layouts!

I customized the stitched grid spaces by layering multiple copies of the grid and using layer masks to hide or show the stitches where I wanted them to be (or not to be).
I didn't have any templates that would line up exactly right with the stitched grid. Katie Pertiet sells templates to go with them, but I only bought the stitches. I tried my favorite ones by Wishing Well Creations as well as the Becky Higgins Design A one, but ended up just making my own using the rounded rectangle tool (and a little math).
I also learned a new way to blur out text to make it private. Draw a selection box around the text you want to blur, then go to Filter > Blur > Guassian Blur. I set the slider to 12. You can select multiple areas of text by holding down the shift key while you draw your selection boxes, and then you can blur them all at once. This works in PS CS6. It's been a while since I've done anything in PSE, so I am not sure if you can do the same thing there or not. Anyway, just thought I'd share! :)
Digital Scrapbooking Supplies Used for Week 17:

how sweet to see my pages in your blog...and such kind words -I can read in english, but you have to google translate mine I guess...
ReplyDeleteOngevijftig is a wordplay in dutch ;)- and it means something about the fifty's (my age)
I use the Beggy Higins template now at AC digitals, but then I bought it at Jessica Sprague- I also play with the stitched lines- It makes the layout very easy to make. '
greetings from the Netherlands- Project Life is all over the world!
Hi Nita! Thanks so much for commenting, and thanks for the clarification of "Ongevijftig". I was planning to send you a message today to let you know that I featured your page, but you beat me to it! :) For some reason, I had it in my head that you were from Denmark. I think I got your location mixed up with Kirsten's (another Project Lifer who does live in Denmark). HA! :) Project Life is definitely all over the world!
DeleteAs usual, your layout is great! I love the stitching, I may have to try that sometime.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Amy! I'm debating whether or not I want to start using the stitches every week. We'll see! :) I've tried a few different stitches from various designers, and I think I like these by Katie Pertiet the best. Anyway, have fun with them if you decide to try it! :)
DeleteHi Jenny! I love your blog AND your pages!! So glad you stopped by my blog so I could stop by yours! What awesome pages! So fresh and colorful! Great job! I'll be back! Hugs! Have a blessed day! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kristina, Thank you so much! I enjoyed visiting your blog today as well! :)
DeleteJenny, I just LOVE the stacked pictures that looked like they are paper clipped on the page! I just may have to use that for inspiration! Absolutely beautiful pages!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Julia! The stacked and clipped photo frames are from a set of PNGs by Katie Pertiet, available at Designer Digitals (see the link in my list of products used). :)
DeleteThanks for sharing the links to the digital finds from Nita. I've always liked those stitches. The look great on your pages too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Andrea! And you're welcome! :)
DeleteJust like all your other visitors, I think your Project Life pages look great. As your mother, I am missing the Insta Fridays, though. Design faster? ;-) Love you, Mom
