My 2nd (and final) Stitch Fix

Hey there! OK, so you may have guessed from the title of this post that I was less than thrilled with my second box of clothes from Stitch Fix (here's My First Stitch Fix). I'm bummed. I think if Stitch Fix were a store in the mall, it would be one of those that I just never go in because they don't sell anything I like. Like Forever 21 or A&F. Some people love them, but they are just not for me (the stores, not the people who shop there - ha!).

So, after that cheery intro, would you like to see what they sent me? Well, here you go:

I was glad to see that my stylist listened to my request for no more orange items. I requested blues and greens this time, and I got one blue item and one green item in this box.

First thing out of the box was this black and cream "tunic." It looked like a dress to me, and I had said NO DRESSES in my profile. The style card suggested wearing it belted, but I don't wear belts. I tried it with one of David's just to see if a belt would work some sort of miracle, but it still looked awful. Thanks, but no thanks. | I didn't hate the zig-zag blouse, but it was too tight under the arms, and the color/pattern was not very flattering. I think the reverse might have looked better (black background, white zig-zags). Also, it was somewhat sheer (as was the tunic). You can clearly see the hem of my white cami through the materials, and the same is true of my bra straps. I had requested to receive no more sheer materials. That was disappointing. Moving on...

It got worse. The black tank top was a black tank top. I don't need one, but if I did, I would get one for cheap at Walmart or Target. I definitely wouldn't spend $48 on one that was too big and had a sheer trim (again with the sheer stuff?). | I wasn't sure what to think about the green sleeveless top. That last pic is blurry because I didn't even want to look at it in the mirror. Ugh. I was a bit baffled by that long hem in the back. The style card said to wear it tucked in to a pencil skirt. Ok... Well, I wear jeans, and had requested casual tops to go with jeans (which this clearly does not). I also had stated that I like to keep my shoulders covered, and that I never wear sleeveless tops. So... not sure why this one was included. Maybe it was the only thing they had in green? Sigh...

And again with the sheer stuff... This cardigan (is that what you would call it?) was actually rather flattering from the front after I draped the attached scarf over my shoulders (even though I had said no scarves). The side view was less impressive, though. It hanging down lower in the front than the back made me look more hunched, and I did not like the sheer striped areas. Back in the box it went with the rest. | That last picture is what I had on before I started this little fashion show, and it's what I wore when I went shopping at Eddie Bauer for the rest of the afternoon. I think I'll stick to what I know from now on.

I have a couple of referral credits from Stitch Fix (thanks to you who clicked on my links!), and I've asked the Stitch Fix folks if they would kindly apply my credits to the service fees I've already paid ($20 per box). We'll see if they will agree to do that. They may not. I hope they will, though.

What about you? Have you tried Stitch Fix? Have you had any luck?

  1. Oh well great... You got me so excited with the first box that I decided to try it. Got my first box today and refuse to post any pictures. They all look like someone else's clothes. I guess I'll give it one more go :)
