I declared today "Fort Friday." I saw something on Pinterest last night about building forts on Fridays, and decided to go for it.

It took me about 30 minutes to set it up before I went to bed last night. It was so worth it! All homework (well almost) finished independently. YES!

Here's our week in Instagrams (starting with last Friday):

1. There was not much motivation to get going on school work last Friday (hence the need for Fort Friday this week!).
2. Even though I'm not teaching this year, I still get to grade papers. :)

3. Cardboard box... always a toy of choice (especially when it turns into a cool triangle that looks like something from Star Wars, and you can use it for your Star Wars Angry Birds toys).
4. Everyone loves Angry Birds at our house.

5. My husband is so sweet to me (DQ caramel sundae).
6. Another Saturday, another basketball game. They're fun to watch.

7-8. Cameron had fun with Daddy's hat at the basketball game.

9. The weather was nice, so David grilled steaks for dinner Saturday night.
10. Braden was excited to wear his new button down shirt and tie to church. He likes to look spiffy, like his daddy.

11. I've started a HUGE project!

12. David worked from home on MLK day, and I ran a bunch of errands, including shopping for knobs and cabinet pulls. I didn't choose these, but I thought the display looked like a Christmas tree. :)
13. I stopped by a thrift store on the way home, and picked up this cross-stitched calendar. It was in two pieces (calendar on front, storage for extra pieces on back) glued together with a tired-looking lace border, but I thought it had potential.

14. I pulled the lace off and stuck a ribbon in one of the rows. I like it! I also used a new-to-me photo editing app for this photo. It's called Snapseed. It has a LOT of editing tools.

15. Braden drew this surprisingly accurate floor plan of our house. He said it was for "spying." :)
We've had a good week. Here's to a great weekend!

I like your plastic calendar. The ribbon was a nice touch.
ReplyDeleteI'm stopping by from Life Rearranged link up. Hope you have a great weekend.

Thanks, Nicole! :)
DeleteI really really love your fort. How could that not be fun! I also now need a caramel sundae, stat. Found you from Life Rearranged.
ReplyDeleteThanks, G! I hope you got that sundae. :)
DeleteI am dissapointed to say that I have not, gah. The week isn't over yet.
DeleteLove the Fort Friday idea! A little bit of effort on your part pays big dividends! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely, Shelley. Hope you had a great weekend! :)
DeleteHi Jenny, (replying to a question you left in a comment on my post, thank you for visiting)
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried painting and sealing cabinets with ASCP - but Miss Mustard Seed wrote a post a couple of days ago (Top Coats Updated) and went over all the various ways she seals her chalk paint and milk paint. Its worth checking out.
The MinWax Polycrylic Satin that I used over white chalk paint looked ok but I don't know over time how it would hold up as a clear coat over white chalk paint. I am hoping it continues to be clear but until some time passes I just won't know. Good luck on your clear coat over ASCP search.
Joy
Thanks so much, Joy! I appreciate your advice. I think I'm going to go ahead and use the soft wax. I talked to my stockists again, and they think it's the way to go. I hope so! :)
