Project Life | Week 9

When I was getting ready to do this layout, I noticed that the photos and the journaling I had in my journaling document didn't really match up. Which means I wrote about different things than I took pictures of.

A few highlights from my journaling that didn't make it onto the scrapbook pages:

Wednesday 2/29:
We had some strong storms last night that woke me up around 1 AM or so. We were under a tornado watch pretty much all night. I found out today that a tornado did hit Branson, MO. Carolyn T. emailed me to ask if I knew whether or not it would affect our retreat next weekend. I haven’t found out yet, but I think not. Most of the reports look like the damage was probably not where the resort is.

Thursday 3/1:
I was tired today. My reminder on my phone went off at 10:50 PM last night to tell me to go to bed, but I ignored it and stayed up until midnight. By the time I actually got ready to get in bed, it was almost 1 AM. Ugh… Why do I do that?! About ten minutes after I laid down, I heard the unmistakable beep of a smoke detector with a dead battery. Those things always die in the middle of the night (and often when we have houseguests… why is that?!)... It got up to almost 75 degrees this afternoon. Our Bradford Pear is blooming in the back yard. Wasps are building a nest in the porch light. I guess spring has sprung... even though we really didn’t get much of a winter at all. It has snowed over spring break before though, so I’m not dusting off the sandals just yet.

Friday 3/2:
I looked at Braden this evening, and had a sudden realization that he’s not going to always be here. This little boy is going to grow up and be gone. I hope (Lord willing) he’ll always be in our lives, but he’s going to change and not be my little boy anymore. It was a really weird feeling. I told him a little bit about how I was feeling (in a kid-appropriate/non-scary way) as he sat in my lap in the rocking chair before bed. His response was, “Enjoy it while you can!” That made me laugh. I’ve also noticed this week that Cameron has started pronouncing “banana” correctly. He’s always said it with the emphasis on the first syllable (BAN-uh-nuh). Another cute thing he’s been saying lately is when I ask him if his food is good, he says, “No. It’s yummy.”
