fleece, hill, shoes

I was out and about all day on Saturday (mom's day out!). I took these photos with my iPhone at a really fun event.

I got a sewing machine for Christmas, but have been too intimidated to actually open the box. So, I was quick to sign up for a "no sewing" craft for a good cause at church!

I couldn't resist this ABC/123 print fleece.

We made over 40 fleece "cut & tie" baby blankets for Loving Choices! Every blanket turned out SO cute. I can't wait to do it again next year!

If you'd like to make your very own blanket, now is the perfect time to buy fleece. It's on sale at most fabric stores this time of year. I got mine at Jo-Ann (50% off!).

After the blanket workshop, I stopped by Red Hill Gallery and Homewares. I've been meaning to get over there ever since Cari and Shannon opened it a year (or more?) ago. They have some really cool stuff... a little vintage, a little farmhouse, lots of handmade... I got this sweet little chalkboard easel, which I promptly brought home and Roy G. Biv-ified.

They are also an Annie Sloan paint dealer, and I'm seriously contemplating which piece of furniture in my house I can paint with that stuff. If you're in Fayetteville, you should stop by their shop!

After Red Hill, I reluctantly went shoe shopping. I have hard-to-fit feet (they're really long and really skinny), so it's a task I usually avoid. I lucked out and found some Birkenstocks on sale. They're pretty much the only sandals that will stay on my feet, so I try to have a pair that are comfy and a pair that I'm breaking in. I also got a pair of Converse All Stars. I had some in high school that were an awesome shade of green. My new ones are slightly more subtle.

I like how this angle makes my feet look relatively small.

Since I started off with iPhone photos at the blanket workshop, I decided to continue the trend and use my phone for all the pictures in this post. I still think it's pretty amazing that my point-and-shoot camera is also a phone and can surf the net and stuff. :)

I enjoyed my day out. Did you do anything fun this weekend?
