Good ol' WD-40

I learned something new recently that might be of use to someone else at some point. The city sprayed our road with some sort of stinky sticky stuff (oil? sealant? I don't know...), and of course, I had to drive on it right after it was freshly applied, and in the rain. My car looked awful! I thought it would come off in the car wash, but nope! I remembered our friend, Stacy, who is an engineering professor of some sort (I think... sorry, Stacy!) saying something about working in the "asphalt lab", so I had David ask her about it when he saw her at choir practice last week. She said to use WD-40. Well, it worked!! I had no idea WD-40 was a solvent (I bet my dad knew that, though). I just thought it made squeaky things stop squeaking. Anyway, if you ever have road stuff sprayed on your car, WD-40, a rag, and some elbow grease should do the trick (a husband willing to do it for you is a plus). :)

Apparently, WD-40 is good for ALL kinds of things that I never knew about! I just did a quick search for it to make sure I was spelling it correctly (I know, how hard could it be? I wasn't sure about the capitalization of both letters and the hyphen. Remember, I'm a grammar nerd!), and found the official WD-40 site, which has a database of over 2000 documented uses. That's right - two thousand. How did I grow up not knowing this?? I wonder if it would get the glue/melted caulk off of our gas fireplace that always drips out from behind the faux marble facade whenever we turn it on??? I bet it would! Yippee!! New project! Anyway, here's the site: http://www.wd40.com/uses-tips/
